Who you are buying from

Panes is made and sold by Dorin Deacu. Payment is taken by Polar, acting as the merchant of record, which means Polar is the seller on the receipt and is responsible for collecting and remitting any sales tax or VAT. Their terms cover the payment itself; these cover the software.

Price and tax

The price shown on the site is before tax. Whatever VAT, GST or sales tax applies where you are is added at checkout and shown to you before you pay. Panes is sold worldwide.

It is one payment. There is no subscription, no renewal, and nothing to cancel.

What you get, and when

A download link and a licence key, by email, straight after payment. If either does not arrive within a few minutes, check the address you gave and then write to us.

What the licence allows is set out in full on the licence page: use on the Macs you own, updates for as long as version 1 runs, and no redistribution.

Refunds

If Panes does not do what this site says it does, reply to your receipt within 30 days and you will be refunded in full. You do not need to justify it and there is no form.

If you are a consumer in the UK or the EU you have a statutory right to cancel a digital purchase within 14 days. By downloading Panes immediately you agree to it being supplied straight away, which normally ends that right — our own 30 day refund is longer and simpler, so you are not worse off either way.

It drives another company's app

Panes works by driving the Claude desktop app's own menus. Claude is made by Anthropic, who can change it at any time without telling anyone, including us. If a future version of Claude renames or removes the Split View menu, Panes will tell you which item went missing, but we cannot promise it will keep working forever.

Panes is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Anthropic. Claude is a trademark of Anthropic, PBC. You need the Claude desktop app installed for Panes to do anything, and getting it is between you and Anthropic.

What we ask of you

Do not resell, redistribute or republish Panes, and do not try to work around the licence. Do not use it to break the terms of any other software it touches.

If a licence key is being shared beyond what the licence allows, we may deactivate it. We would write to you first.

Liability

Panes is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, there is no warranty that it will be uninterrupted or error free, and liability is limited to what you paid for it.

Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement. If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.

Changes

These terms may change for future purchases; the version you agreed to when you bought is the one that governs your purchase. The date at the top says when this version was written.
