The short version

Panes collects your email if you ask to be told when it ships, and your licence key and an identifier for your Mac when you activate it. That is all of it. The app has no analytics, and nothing about what you do in Claude ever leaves your Mac.

The waitlist

If you give us your email address to be told when Panes ships, it is stored with Resend, who host the list. We use it to send you one email, when Panes ships. We will not send you anything else, and we will not sell, rent or share the list.

Every email we send carries an unsubscribe link, and one click is all it takes — you never have to write to anyone or explain yourself. You can also ask to be removed before anything is sent, and the address is deleted rather than marked inactive.

Buying it

Payments are handled by Polar, who are the merchant of record. They take your payment details, your billing country and whatever tax information the sale needs; we never see your card. Their handling of that data is covered by their own privacy policy.

We receive your email address and the fact that you bought a licence, so we can send you the key and answer you if you write in.

Activating it

When you activate Panes, the app sends your licence key and an identifier for your Mac to the store, so that a key can be tied to the machine it is used on. That identifier is a number macOS gives the hardware; it is not your name, your email, or anything about what is on the computer.

That is the only time Panes opens a connection. It does not check in afterwards.

What the app never sends

Panes reads the Claude desktop app's session list in order to put your sessions into panes. None of that leaves your Mac. Session names, their contents, what you are working on, how often you use it — none of it is collected, transmitted or stored anywhere by us.

There is no analytics in the app and no crash reporting.

This website

This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics. It is hosted on GitHub Pages, whose servers keep their own access logs, including visitor IP addresses, under GitHub's privacy policy.

How long we keep things

Waitlist addresses are deleted once the launch email has gone out, unless you have asked to stay on the list. Purchase and licence records are kept while the licence is live and for as long afterwards as tax and accounting rules require.

Your rights

Wherever you live, you can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. If you are in the UK or the EU, the UK GDPR and the GDPR give you those rights explicitly, along with the right to complain to your data protection authority.

The legal bases we rely on are your consent, for the waitlist, and performance of a contract, for everything to do with a licence you have bought.
