Licence
The terms you agree to when you buy Panes. Plain words, and short on purpose.
Last updated 7 September 2026
What you are buying
Buying Panes gives you a personal, non-exclusive licence to install and use it on any Mac you own or control, for as long as you like. You are buying a licence to use the software, not the software itself.
One purchase covers one person. If you want it for a team, buy a copy per person.
What is included
Updates for as long as version 1 runs. If there is ever a version 2 that is a paid upgrade, this licence still covers version 1 and you are never forced off it.
What you may not do
Do not resell, rent, sublicense or redistribute Panes, and do not publish the application or any part of it for others to download. Do not remove the copyright notices from it.
You may make copies for your own backup, and you may install it on your own machines.
What it does on your Mac
Panes asks for the macOS Accessibility permission. It uses that permission to read the Claude desktop app's session sidebar and to press items in its View menu, and for nothing else.
Panes opens one connection in its life: activating your licence sends the key and an identifier for this Mac to the store. After that it never connects again — no telemetry, no update check, no re-validation — and nothing about your sessions ever leaves your Mac. There is more detail on the privacy page.
Refunds
If Panes does not do what the site says it does, reply to your receipt within 30 days and you will be refunded in full. No form to fill in. The terms say the same thing at more length.
The app drives another app
Panes works by driving the Claude desktop app's own menus, which is software published by someone else and changed without notice. If a future version of Claude renames or removes the Split View menu, Panes will tell you which item went missing, but it cannot promise to keep working forever. Panes is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to Anthropic.
No warranty
Panes is provided as it is, without warranty of any kind. To the extent the law allows, there is no promise that it will be uninterrupted, error free, or fit for any particular purpose.
Liability is limited to what you paid for it. To the extent the law allows, neither the author nor anyone involved in making Panes is liable for any indirect or consequential loss arising from using it.
Nothing here removes rights you have as a consumer that cannot be removed by agreement.
